Thanks all for pitching in. Not sure of the long term issues, but for now I've got it up & running (and don't plan to shut the system off until the project is over Smile.

My mind was on the problem being Win10 because of the obvious upgrade. But after I sent the question something prompted me (thank you Lord), to search the list here for the error code. And back in 2010, someone who had Bitdefender antivirus which I have, was having basically the same issue. And, as part of the Win10 upgrade, it had made me update Bitdefender.

The work around that was listed was to turn off the virus detection until starting pagestream. So I turned it off. Rebooted, started pagestream - it came up (had no font problems), loaded my doc, turned on bitdefender & replugged in my internet cable. And so far so good.

Thanks everyone. I'll try to dig deeper & update you later once I get this project done.

Always with Christ, Dave Ruf.

This reminds me. If you are having the problem with
page stream not starting after a crash or a shut down, it is
because it didn't shut down properly. Go to the task
manager and shut down the page stream process and it will
start back up fine.

I do not know BitDefender (using Vipre here), but is it possible you may
be able to whitelist PageStream so that Bitdefender will leave it alone?

Maybe you can switch Bitdefender to learning mode, so that it will ask
you everytime it wants to interfere with something. Then start
PageStream, tell Bitdefender to be a good dog and leave PageStream
alone. After that, switch learning mode off again.

But, PageStream WAS working fine until day before yesterday.  Then suddenly the stupid message.  I tried to send the screenshot again, but can 't see it here.

The Message said:
Pagestream5.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to close the application.

I looked up that error and got warnings not to muck around with it... or words to that effect.

If you have PGS 5.0.5.7, you can use that (worth a try).
Or, if you dare, downgrade Windows 10 to a version of a couple of weeks ago (with the system restore point? system recovery point? - I don't know how it is called in English).
