Greetings,

I recently bought into the Pagestream 5 Pro version, but so far have
been unable to get it to run. I set up a new directory for the #5
version and pointed the assigns in the user-startup to that directory
(so I could leave the old PGS4 install untouched for fall-back
purposes). So far whenever I attempt to run the program, I get the
piracy message, and after hitting "OK", the next window fails and
crashes before it is fully drawn to the screen. This happens when I
tried to run either on my A4000T/060 (guru 8000 000A) or my
Pegasos/MorphOS ("Application is meditating")

Hopefully I'm just doing something wrong, so I can correct it and get
running.

Eric S.

Hello Eric,

First, for all you Amiga 5.0 beta owners I've been slaving away trying
to get the latest 5.0 source ported to the Amiga and an update out.
Chuck Washburn is going to be demoing PageStream at the show in two+
weeks in California and I am trying to get it out by then.

For you Eric, I would suggest trying to skip past the registration
screens by creating a simple pref file. The easiest would be to simply
copy it from your prior installation and rename (it will be named
PageStream4.prefs, copy to your installation and rename to
PageStream5.prefs).

That doesn't work here. It still crashes while trying to draw the splash
panel. (On an A4000/060).

I look forward to testing your next port.

I tried that, and I'm afraid it made no apparent difference. Are there
any required libraries or similar that are not supplied with PGS5?

Thanks for the help,

Eric S.

Hello!

Thanks for asking. I'm waiting for a couple parts before I take another
stab at the A1. Until then, I installed Amiga Forever on my MacBook Pro
and it almost works perfectly. The almost part is that I can compile
many of my files but for some reason I can't get E-UAE to give me more
than 10mb of ram (2mb chip, 8mb fast). Z3 Fast Ram is ignored. So I
can't compile all of the files. I've been bouncing emails back and forth
with Cloanto but they are not big Mac users.

If anyone is using UAE/Amiga Forever on a Mac I would love to hear your
experience with this. Otherwise, progress is being made! Just a bit of
time wasted. Otherwise, I'm busy with some new minor features for
PageStream and I have finally fixed a problem with the new color
management on Windows and fixed a few installation problems on Linux. I
should have a stable release on Mac, Windows and Linus for 5.0.5 by
Christmas. The trick now is if I'll get past these problems to do the
same for the Amiga releases.

@Deron

Are you still having problems with UAE memory on your Mac?

@Eric S

Are you still having problems getting PageStream up and running?

Yes, though I haven't been messing with it recently. I had a project
that needed doing a month or two back, so I switched back to Pgs 4.1.xxx

Yes and no. I finally got it to accept like 32mb which is enough to be
able to compile everything so far. Now I'm having new problems, but that
is par for the course Smile

Hi Eric,

Have you ever used SnoopDos? I've found it one of the best utilities for
tracking down library or other resource type problems.

http://aminet.net/util/moni/SnoopDos.lha (68K version from Aminet, there
is a PPC version on OS4Depot)

Let me know if this helps,

it is told that snoopdos does not work reliable on os4. you should use
"Snoopy" instead on the new os.

Yes, use Snoopy on OS4+.

I can't say I've ever experienced such problems with Snoopy, it works as
advertised here, perhaps you've found something. Have you tried to
contact Colin Wenzel, Snoopy's developer? Colin is the OS4 developer for
dos.library and would be interested in something like this.

There should be a notice ahead of the movie that says 'This
movie is PG. Can you read? You are a Parent. Do you understand what
Guidance is? Or are you just another stupid toddler who thinks they're
an adult simple because they've grown older and, unfortunately, have
developed fully-functioning sexual organs? Would you like some
committee somewhere to decide *everything* for you? Get a damn grip,
will you? And shut the wretched kid up !'
