Hello,
fortuantely I did found a backport of all GNOME 2.2 stuff via apt-get.org (its kind of "freshmeat" for the debian world").
If anyone is also looing for the backport for Debian stable/woody add the following server to your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://ftp.acc.umu.se/mirror/mirrors.evilgeniuses.org.uk/debian/backports/woody gnome2.2/
If you'll download the libgnomeui-package it'll also download a whole bunch of GNOME dependencies... Actually everything is running fine and it won't break anything else in woody (from my experience with that backport above)...
To only question i have now:
How may I DISABLE the AA-font-rendering of all the menues in Pagestream. Maybe it's an general option for gnomeui (gnome2) apps - as my GIMP is still using NO AA. I do not like AntiAliasing at all (especially using TFT's): If you'll use the correct display fonts you'll have a more clear rendering...
To grasshopperllc: Maybe you should add a statement about the usage of GNOME-libs to the installation notes. IMO it will clear up those problems i had.
Patrick, you've asked about Xandros? Well it's my favourite distribution. After testing Redhat 8 and 9, SUSE 8.1, Lycoris, Knoppix my last try was Xandros. Actually I love the all 'fine-tuning' they did and the stability of Debian woody (including the really nice apt-get Actually Xandros seems to be 'old-fashioned' due its woody-base: especially if it comes to desktops like KDE... on the other hand they've annonced the upcomming upgrade-path to Xandors 1.1 and/or 2.0... Maybe have a look at:http://forums.xandros.com/
