I just installed the latest version and am printing remotely over a
network using a lexmark optra printer and nothing comes out. Then
when I closed the program to get back to work on other things the
whole computer crashed. Mouse moved but absolutely nothing else (no
taskbar, no programs, no ctrl-alt-del, nada). Also one reason I have
never been able to use the windows version is that the stretch
function of the typesetting has never been implemented and this is
extremely important to me. I never see anything about this in the
messages and really can't believe that it isn't mentioned at all or
am I the only one who ever compresses and stretches typefaces?
The letterspacing, linespacing, etc seem to work but not the
characterwidth feature.
Just thought I'd finally write again. It's been quite a while. The
program in general is finally taking shape but still has a way to go
before I can even get any use from it.
Also, I noticed that the opening credit box did not disappear when
the program came up and I had to (minimize or click out of it - I
think I minimized it for fear the clicking out would kill PgS4
altogether.
I also think that JPeg import and PSD import are mandatory with the
program at no extra cost. Get the money through upgrades and/or extra
features such as the borders and TextFX but offer as many import
features as possible as an integral part of the program.
Deron, wishing you the best of luck on all three platforms.

Using a Micron200 at work with 160MB, an NEC350 at home with 192 MB,
and an AmiA4000 desktop with Cybervision64/3D,Emplant,142MB ram,SCSI
zip & EZ-135 and Microtek scanner which will operate on all 3
platforms by plugging in the right cord (unfortunately I don't know
of a Scsi-switch) and an Alps MD-5000 that leaves my Ami and Emplant
out in the cold but produces some beautiful decals as well as
top-notch pictures on regular laser paper)

I get a crash as soon as I click the "Print" button of the Print dialog
box. I try to print to a Brother HL-1020 Laser printer.

Yes, this limitation is mentioned in the ReadMe file. See the "Windows
specific problems" section. I know that this won't make it any less
frustrating, but at least it's a documented (and known) problem with the
Windows version. That's why most people won't bother reporting that bug.

Well, I certainly can't use PageStream Windows seriously for now, but it's
getting very close to usable. From a programmer's point of view, it may be
very close to complete. Lots of interface glitches have been fixed, and the
Edit Palette, Toolbar and Toolbox appear to be better positioned now. It
really looked tacky when they were overlapping each other! Smile

I agree, but PSD import may be more difficult to implement if the file
format is not publicly available, like the MS-Word format.
