Well, I downloaded and installed the latest 4.1 release on my Fedora
Core 2 system, and ran into a rather large problem. The software
doesn't seem to correctly render most of the TrueType fonts that are
installed on my system (the Microsoft web fonts). I'm certain that the
fonts are correctly installed, because I'm able to use them without any
problems in other applications such as OpenOffice and Mozilla, but
PageStream seems to render most of them as nothing (not even blank
spaces).

When I try to load up the sample document that comes with PageStream, it
first opens up the font substitution dialog (even though Arial, Arial
Black, and Times New Roman are istalled). In the font list, these fonts
show up as Arial Regular, Arial Black Regular, and Times New Roman
Regular, so when I select the apropriate mappings, the document atempts
to load, but it the CPU usage goes up way high, and when it finally
loads, most of the text is not there. Interestingly, "Arial Black
Regular" works, but the other fonts do not. Furthermore, The three fonts
that I just mentioned do NOT show up with the "Regular" designation in
other programs, i.e. what PageStream lists as "Arial Regular" shows up
as simply "Arial" in other applications. I suspect that this may have
something to do with this issue. Any ideas, Deron?

None. How is that for helpful.. We use the pretty standard FreeType to do
the font rendering on Linux.

The naming would not be the problem. Are any of these fonts large Unicode
complete fonts?

Is the exact same package of fonts that you used available for download
somewhere, or did you copy them from a specific Windows installation so I
can try and reproduce this?
