I have a BIG problem. During a save of a document, something must have gone
wrong, because now I can't open it! According to my prefs, the last 3 saves
should have been kept in ~/Documents/Backups but this folder does not excist!
Have I lost two weeks work or is there a solution? And please don't tell me
not to use beta software for importent work Sad

Anders,
I'm afraid I may not have good news. I had set up "Backups" on an earlier
version of Linux (RH) and PgS before going to Suse Linux. I had the old
backups, but no new ones. I changed to an existing directory, and it DOES
backup....if the directory exists!
I have a "MyDocs" folder inside of which I have various directories by
application, including "PgS", and then I have a "Backup" folder in that. The
browse gadget in Prefs->General will help to set it up. Prefs may come from
the File Menu or the Prefs menu on the Navigator panel.
I have not yet had such a crash while saving recently, but thanks for the
headsup. Now I can have a backup, if it happens to me.
Since it is compressed, I would not know where to start to unravel the file.

As Gary pointed out you likely don't have any backups due to the invalid path.
I would recommend sending the document to Deron for analysis: PgS should not
be corrupting files.

I think some error message at init time, or even when it tries to make a
backup, would be in order here!

PgS wrote file name on disk with UTF-8, but my filesystem using
iso8859-2 character table. This effecting with misspeling polish
characters under KDE and in GTK requesters.
I made change to RunPagestream4Pro script. I add line

export G_FILENAME_ENCODING=iso8859-2

befor executing PgS. This correct showing in GTK requester, but files
with these diacritical letters in name are not to read.
Likewise, not readable are documents in directories with these
diacritical letter in directory name. This is very frustrating, because
I very often use my language to file names Wink .

An understandable desire/frustration. Hopefully Deron will address this
shortcoming.
