When I create a textbox using the text tool, it becomes fill with black. Where
can I change this misbehaviour? The strange thing is, that it startet
suddenly doing this after working with the document for about one hour with
no problems regarding textboxes.

Are you saying that it gets filled with black as soon as you draw the
column? Or are you creating a frameless text object by clicking on a blank
part of the document with the text tool and typing some text? If you try
and set the color of a frameless text object with the Object Line/Fill
dialog, it will be setting the background color for the frameless text
object, not that text itself. Not sure if that is the problem...

That is a strange problem. How exactly are you creating the textbox? Is it a
frameless text object? Do you click and then type or click and drag before
typing? What is the default font set to?

It is a frameless text object and I create it with click and drag before
typing. The default font is Ariel Regular. I have to open "Line & Fill" and
deselect "fill" every time I create a text box.

The pdf export do not have embedded fonts .... shouldn't it be working with
the lates PGS?

I have now deleted the ./Pagestream folder in order to delete all settings,
and now there is no problems with text boxes. But PDF export still do not
contain the correct fonts.

PageStream doesn't embed fonts in PDF files directly exported. To get that you
have to print to a postscript file and then convert that to PDF.

As for the other: it sounds like default settings for an object, but a quick
check and I can't find a way of controlling that. Do you have a copy of the
old PageStream5.prefs file?

If you click and drag, it is just a regular column. The text tool can
create a frameless text object (click and release, then type), or a text
column (click and hold, drag out a box, then click inside the box to set
the cursor and then type).

Evidently your problem went away by deleting your pref file which is oh so
strange! If you can either paste it into an email to post here, or email it
privately that would be great (it won't come through as an attachment on
this list).

Thanks,

Deron

You didn't find it because no such control exists! A frameless text object
is _always_ created with a white fill that is turned off. A text column is
always created with a white fill that is turned on. Something would have to
be very wrong to make them draw as black!

I didn't think it did, I was just checking to be sure. Despite all I know
about PgS, I still keep finding things I never knew were there.
