Opened a doc and the first thing I noticed was the font management window
popped up with a font I don't have and therefore don't use. Curious.

Next I noticed the Colour palette only had black and white showing so
navigated to PageStream5 Colours after choosing "append". This meant the doc
had changed, chose close and got the requester warning doc had changed etc,
chose "Don't save" and got the following warning alert:

The Application PageStream5Pro has quit unexpectedly
You can inform .... blah blah

Chose restart app and opened another doc, followed the same procedure as above
but chose "save" upon "close", no dramas this time. Did the same with another
doc but chose "don't save" PGS instantly closed, no alerts.
Using another doc did the same procedure as above, chose "don't save" and got
the above alert again.

The crash seems duplicable but sometimes with an alert, sometimes without.

Question, why is PGS not loading the colours by default? Or am I forgetting
something?

Not an exhaustive test/report having only downloaded minutes ago.

The colors are loaded automatically from the PageStream5 Colors file.
Either the one in your userprefs folder (.pagestream5 in your home
directory under Linux) or if one doesn't exist there, in the application
folder.

Ok so I presume if there's not one in .pagestream5 then one would be created
if/when one saves one. That would account for why I had to navigate to the
app folder to do the append. But it still begs the question then if it
automatically loads from there why did it not?

I can't think of any reason. I'll play around. Had anyone else noticed the
default colors not loading when creating new documents?

Can you verify that a PageStream5 Colors file exists in the same folder as
the PageStream5 executable?

Yes it's there but don't spend too much time on this. It was really only a
comment (a BTW) at the end of my original post.

I unarchived the archive and just click on the Start script. Maybe there's
something in there that's not pointing to the appropriate place. Once I
append the abovementioned colour file and save, the colours are available so
it's no big deal.

If I'm following this correctly I run PgS, create a new document, check to see
if there are colors defined. I did this with PgS 5.0.3.1 and there were
colors.
