why I cannot delete, modify and clone paragraph and character styles?
The buttons are ghosted.

It is a bug. The new code is supposed to allow multiselection so you can
delete more than one at a time if you want. Instead, it doesn't work at
all and since I made the code change many months ago when I didn't have
an actual Linux box to test with I forgot about it

Just spent almost a week trying to get it fixed. More or less works now
but not as well as I would like (long story about GtkList and how it
doesn't support multilist properly, and GtkTree doesn't support
arbitrary column data per row.)
