I think it would be useful the possibility to create a text style by
selecting a portion of text or paragraph and choosing a menu item like
"create new style"

I did not know about that function.
I though "clone" was for cloning a style already in the list...

Maybe not a good word for it, but what would you all it? Anyone else
have a better name?

You can duplicate an existing style by holding down the shift key when
you choose New.
