Just noticed this little oddity,
In row 2 for line and fill pallet, there is a label of 'Color" a combo box
to select pre-defined colors or to add your own, and small button ">>" to
open a color edit pallet, and an unlabeled box that accepts values in
percents, prefilled at 100%.

now open the color edit pallet with the ">>" button, and in that pallet,
in the first row, there is a box labeled 'Tint' with a prefilled 100%.

What is the difference in Tint and the unlabeled box in the previous line
and fill pallet ?

Do you by any chance use the 64 bit version? I have the same "double-tab" in 64
bit Linux but not in the 32 bit Linux. I reported this some time ago so it will
most prabably be fixed in the next version.

32 bit here, the other issue about Tint title, there seems to be no
difference between it and the >> no titled next to color

That has always been a feature of PageStream.

When you create a named color to be used at a later date, you can
specify that the color is a % of the chosen color model. If you use
100%R 50%G 0%B, it might not be that useful to then enter 50% tint since
you could easily just enter 50%R 25%G 0%B. However, if you pick a
Crayon, HTML, or Pantone color as your base for the named color, then
using a tint of that is more useful.

Then, when you apply a named color, you can use a shade of that named
color. Kind of like having text size in a style tag and as an applied
attribute. Only in this case they stack! So if you create a color that
is 50% Sunset Red, and then use 50% of that color, you are in effect
getting 25% Sunset Red.

As mentioned, the Line & Fill double tabs (plus Print and Save as PDF.
Any place tabs exists in a dialog) is a bug in the 64 bit linux beta.
Simply use the second set of tabs. This is fixed in house for the next
release. As you can guess, I keep making changes and need to wrap up a
new release Smile

Smile great, before you close that tab bug, perhaps you can make some other
changes to the color palettes. Smile
there is a some odd resizing issues with the custom color edit palette. As
you adjust the color space type gray scale, cmyk, these two are ok, when
you go to rgb the elements in the palette double in size.
scroll back to cmyk and the element are back to the correct size, got back
one more to gray scale, and the the elements/fields about triple in size!
:O
one other small annoyance, if you have selected a color and change the
color space model ( i usually work with rgb) to cmyk and then overshoot to
gray scale, (i use the mouse wheel when doing this) the values are merged
into a gray value, (ok for gray scale) , but when you say to yourself
'oops i overshot again", and go back to the cmyk or rgb, your previously
set values are lost to this new gray value. Sad
The real trouble here seems to be the way the color space is presented to
the user, it is kind of left over from the amiga days, I do like the way
the gimp presents the color space to the user, or to use a color wheel.
i think that particular set of palettes need to be simplified maybe using
more tabs(?), dont know if that is the solution or not.

also on the color percent and the tint percents, is one a transparency
level, and the other a saturation level? (or were supposed to be?)

Also in the preferences palette, the items list section, the width of the
list changes radically for folders and editors selection. perhaps these
should be changed to tabs (just one set please!!! ) and let the whole
palette be used to display that tab's info.

One has nothing to do with the other...

Edit Color is a tint, and the number directly after the color in the
Line & Fill dialog is a tint. This is unchanged from 3.x.

Transparency is set in the Blend popup and string directly below the
color in the Line & Fill dialog.

The problem has to do with changing contents, not list vs tab.
