hi, wasn't PageStream capable of saving images as CMYK at one time? or it
it just the linux version that cannot do that anymore?

also finding that jpegs made in Gimp don't load anymore, have to use only
.png images...

Yes, PageStream Linux can save CMYK images, and yes it can load jpeg images.

If you select a single image in PageStream and export it, it will _not_
let you convert the image to some other type. It will simply let you
resave to another file format (or even the same). If you really want it
re-rendered, then you will need to select more than 1 object and export.
Then it will render the selection to the image type of your choice. So
if you really really want to use PageStream to generate a CMYK of an RGB
image, then draw a box or line that is smaller than the image and place
it behind the image and select them both before choosing export.

As to why you can't import a jpeg, I can't say with the info given.

Interesting and yep selecting 2 images worked for CMYK, Question, why 2
images and not just the one? (worked with image and object)
here is a .jpg that did load, all I get is and error with Garbage text in
dialog box, business card scanned at 300dpi on a PC

Thanks

what I am doing is making a booklet (phonebook) to send out for printing,
every service I check out seems to require CMYK or greyscale images,
unfortunately
I did everything in RGB
linux doesn't seem to have a rgb to cmyk conversion utility (except PGS).

Because the only way to save to a bitmap when 2 objects are selected is
to render them to a bitmap. PageStream is not a bitmap editor. If you
want to convert an RGB to a CMYK, then gimp has a way to do that (been
awhile, might be an add on). If you have BME, that can also be used.

You will have to send that to me at support@pagestream.org. This list
does not allow attachments.

ok but the only thing missing from this explanation is why does it take two images to get it to render to another color space model, and not one image to do this??
idle prying minds wanna know..

also it is best to do a graphic export like this with clean document. I was using a graphic that i have in a column, and was having a hard time trying to de-select column, prolly more of a hardware issue as my mouse is a lil testy sometimes.

actually thats is one thing I understand now, a single Picture doesn't need
to be rendered when exported, to make two image into one, PGS renders it to
a new file/color profile
