it can't create a display handle, since the window does open briefly.

One of the possible fails is a call to get the current printer
configuration? Otherwise I've only found memory allocation failures (which
would be very unlikely!)

Ahhhhhhhh ... that sounds promising ... I don't have any printer config set
on this computer yet ... I built it from scratch, and decided not to add a
printer into the "mix" until I was certain the rest of this machine is
running with error or hardware conflicts ... I will get an actual printer
plugged in and configured in Windows tonight when I get home from work, and
let you know

Alden, Dave, and Deron,

Okay, have run the Windows 98 printer install wizard thing, and "hey presto"
PS launches now ... excellent advice, Deron! Don't know if you would call
that a "bug exactly, as most people using a DTP program would normally have
a printer installed and attached to their computer, but now you know Deron.
Dave, that might be the problem with your laptop as you may not have
installed a printer on that? A possible problem with your too, Alden?
