Deron, Here is the attached file. I found out out to eliminate the problem, but want you to be aware (in case you aren't) of how it can occur. The attached file (Test) will create an error when trying to save it as PDF. The problem is created by the F sub a to the left of the figure on page 2. You can fix the problem by deleting that object. Note that it was typed in without a column around it, by simply typing Fa, then subscripting the a from the menu Type/TypeStyle subscript. The size was changed to 16 using Type./Size, and the F made boldface with Type/Attributes and set to Times New Roman Bold.
The second issue is that the Symbol fonts are not present (or are invisible) when viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 (I believe the same is true for earlier versions, but haven't checked it recently. Note that they will be present with this version of the file "Test", because I did a kludge to get it to work. If you select the text column on page 1 as an object and use the stack to send it to the back, you should see a letter sequence that had been previously typed in (selected as symbol font) directly onto the page before the text columns were created.
If you delete that string of symbol characters, the original problem of invisible symbol fonts should occur again. That is the fonts are visible in the PageStream document, but can't be seen in the pdf file that is created.
When I get a chance, I'll send you a copy of a file that has problem with placement of sub or superscripts in a pdf file. Note that it doesn't seem to be a problem with this particular document.
Thanks.
Dave
