I see that version r8 is due at any time, so I don't want to spend
too
much time on any problems I am having. I also read through the
previous posts to get an idea of what had been discussed already. I
know that most of the things I mention are likely to be fixed already.

Also, I have only downloaded the files from the secure site. I do
want to comment on a couple of things and ask a question or two.

Here goes:

TESTING ENVIRONMENT:
Computer #1:
PC with AMD Athlon (700MHz), 128MB RAM, 32MB graphics card (ATI?),
Windows 98

Computer #2 (at work):
PC with Pentium II (450 MHz), 128MB RAM, Windows NT 4.0

QUESTION:
1: I read in previous posts that the Windows version of Pagestream
4.0
only uses system fonts. Is that the official answer? If so, I am at
a bit of a loss - I have many past documents that I need to continue
working on that use a variety of fonts I have collected over the
years. Not being able to use these fonts makes 4.x incompatible with
3.x and 2.x, as far as my usage goes. Is there going to be a font
manager in Pagestream windows r8+, or can my many postscript fonts be
installed in Windows easily? I know that Windows uses True Type
fonts. I can find equivalents to the good old Compugraphic fonts and
I suppose I should finally let the Pagestream fonts go, but there are
a lot of Postscript fonts I need to use.

Note: I was actually hoping that font management would become
simpler,
with groups or types or something - that old font list was pretty
long.

2: In the toolbox the items with the little arrows do not work like
in Amiga Pgs 3.3, which expands the pane out to show the available
options. I like the way the Amiga does this - seeing all of the
options rather than clicking through a hidden list - will it be the
same in Windows when done?

3: I thought I remembered reading people talking about having HTML
import, but I can't find anything about it or a way to do it.

BUGS:
1: It is very easy to crash the program. Others have commented that
the program is stable for them, but on the two, diverse PC's I am
using my experiences are the same. Even on a simple page with some
lines and text blocks (I was making a calendar) I got crashes, doing
something as simple as cutting and pasting a text box with a couple
of
words. Also, saving a page as PDF with one text frame and a small
GIF
picture crashes instantly. Generally I have found that when doing
simple work I should expect a crash about every 1-5 minutes or so.

2: An new document often opens with its title bar superimposed on the
tool bar. It interferes with the drawing of the toolbar but can't be
moved since it seems to be underneath the bar (even though it
visually
covers it). The only way to fix this is to hide and unhide the
toolbar. At that point the windows moves down into the usable space
and everything is hunky-dory. (When the window is expanded the
effect
is really strange!)

3: Applied styles like bold and italic do not display on the screen,
even if there is a corresponding bold or italic version of the font
in
the font requester.

4: There are a LOT of window redraw problems, especially in BME. In
BME sometimes rectangular sections of the pictures seem to me
misplaced on the image.

5: Keyboard shortcuts seem to come and go in how they work. Sometimes
they work, sometimes they seem to go away. Also, F10 does not redraw
the screen and Delete doesn't often delete objects.

Well, I will stop here. I guess I will keep doing work on my Amiga,
at least until version 8, which I eagerly await! Keep up the good
work, Deron!
