I tried downloading PS 4.0v8 and WinZip would not unzip
the file, giving the message that it was not a valid zip file. ???

Hi! Dennis,
I too have downloaded PGS4.0r8 and it unzipped OK but did not install
correctly. I had to go into Windows\Temp folder and copy the new files
across myself.

Now OK

Steve

Because the last version's zip archive was only working with WinZip, I
switched to PowerArchiver hoping that would fix it. I never considered that
it won't work with WinZip.

Arghh. I'm going to create it as a self decompressing archive next round I
think. Sorry for all the troubles...

I have had similar problems as Steven, Denis with installing v.8 ... using
WinZip it unzips okay, but a "113 error" comes up during installation about
2/3 of the way in. Did as Steven did, and manually copied everything over
the top of v.7.

There still appears to be problems entering text ... moving from the text
cursor to the object cursor, and back again, text sometimes will not be
entered despite the text cusor appearing on screen ... sometimes this cursor
is static ... sometimes it flashes.

The toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen, which allows changes
in font and it's characteristics, does not work ... size changes and font
changes have to be entered from the pull down menu at the top for them to
take effect.

JPEG's are now importable, but they appear in nice shades of green and
yellow. The same is true in BME.

A question for those more knowledgeable than me. Due to not being able to
print directly from PageStream to an HP IIIP Laserjet (haven't been able to
check if this is fixed in v.8 yet), I have been saving test files as PDF
files, and then printing via Acrobat Reader to the laser. However, Acrobat
invariably substitutes the fonts chosen while working on the document in PS,
for other one's when displaying and printing. Can someone advise me how to
retain the fonts chosen when working on the document in PS once it is loaded
into Acrobat? The documentation in Acrobat doesn't appear to address this
question directly.

Thanks,

Wayne.

I had to install directly too. I can't save to PDF on my computer and the
printing came out with lines (I think they're compressed letters) instead of
the letters.

I use a little freeware utility called FreeZip. It has never failed to
decompress a ZIP archive yet, including all PageStream archives.

Can confirm the "Error-113" during installation, which occurs while
installing the support files. The directory involved appears to be the
Softlogik directory, which contains only about 5.?MB after the failure.

Regards,

Mark
