Deron,

I have just downloaded PGS Pro for windows.
I have been unable to import the PageStream PDF manual.
I am obviously doing something wrong.

Can you explain how to do it.

Thanks,

I have been able to import the PageStream.pdf.
At least make sure that you start PGS fresh.
Also there are differences in loading between Optimize for: editable or
accurate.
When editble doesn't work, maybe accurate works.

Loading PDF is a mixed bag. Sometimes it works, but for other pdf's it
quits.
Not all the text is recovered.
Take PageStream.pdf::
page 1. user manual release 4 is missing
page 2: single user software licence etc. is missing
page 3: Getting startet & number 1 are missing
page 4: there seems to be not text when loaded in the editble mode,
double click gives text (if PGS doesn't quit at that moment).
page 4: there is text when loaded in the accurate mode.

When I am changing the fontsubstitution, it's not remembered when I
restart the same (PageStream.)pdf file.
In the editble loading the textbox is outlined, in the accurate not.

Cisco, the router manufacuring one, has .pdf files which contains
complex line drawings. At least PGS doesn't understand these ones.

I'm amazed that PGS can understand that much of .pdf files.
Great, Deron!

Are you saying that your system crashes (could be a symptom of the Windows
beta itself) or that certain PDF's don't load or that certain PDF's are not
recognized?

If you have something that doesn't load, try sending a sample to me at
support@grasshopperllc.com (or a url). While the editable scanning make
screw up the placement of text, it should still load _something_. I haven't
found anything here that at least something doesn't load.

Might be worth mentioning here that although I'm still not able to get text
to appear (although I *think* it's there) I'm having little or no problem
opening PDFs. OK, they have no text, but I can open complex pdf documents,
large ones (Pagestream4 Manual says it's 249 pages), small ones, etc. A
couple of weirdness: a few pdfs created in Pagestream 4158 have graphics
inverted when reloaded as PDF into 41624, but that might be me rather
anything of concern.
But generally, I can't get it to quit when loading PDFs.
Oh joy! Hope the text bug runs away soon!

PGS for Windows crashes. PGS disappears.

If you want any of those .pdf, I'll send you one or more.
But I gather you have those offending pdf's yourself, and know about
some shortcomings of this
PGS-version.

To be a bit more precise: PGS don't remember if it crashes!

No, I don't have any that cause PageStream to crash.

I can't help that directly. The fix for this is to make it not crash Smile

Yes, yeah, yeah...
Not quite, I can see some of those pdf file, say some pages. Then it
crashes.
So I thought that it writes the fontsubstitution first and then show the
pdf-file.

Actually, it doesn't flush things to disk like that until you quit
PageStream. Recent files list, font sub list, etc.
