The Pro version did not have the new page uploaded with the new links (it
was still talking about .24), I've uploaded the file now.

I was able to get into both the standard and pro versions, so I am guessing
you just need to refresh your browser or wait a few hours and try again.

- After entering registration number etc. PGS just quits without creating a
.ini file. Using an existing .ini file works, however.

- Bolded Arial still does not work ("Arial Bold" is called "Arial Fett" in
german Windows).

- Scrolling still creates a strang screen, trying to move the scrollbar
creates flickering.

- More icons appear as wanted, the dialogs look better than in v24.

- The "page back" icon only appears after using it.

- Sometimes, the toolbox is too much in front, e.g. when opening a file
requester.

- The font subsitution list is still not saved. Why is "Times-Normal"
replace with "Abadi MT Condensed Light" by default? The font substitution
list should take into account the localized font names.

- Still present: Start PGS, open or create a document, select "square tool",
try to draw a square in a document - it does not work the first time.

- File | System Preferences | Editors... crashes PGS. "Fonts..." and
"Screen..." does nothing. Is "System Preferences" from Amiga version?

Keep on with the good work,
Ralf

Deron:
PGS Win 4.1.6.25 is looking better but still not showing those pesky fonts
for me...
Everything else is as below in Ralf's email, just about.
Had a strange PGS exit when trying to manipulate graphics in a pdf (actually
the PGS manual) for which I have Dr Watson file, but I _was_ also trying to
do several other things, like open a Word document, manipulate graphics in
Irfanview and so on... so it's probably of no consequence.

And compared to NO TEXT it's nothing!
I wish I knew (or I wish YOU knew) what the difference is with no fonts in
Win2k

As usual, my set-up is:
P3 667Mhz 384Mb RAM running Windows 2000 SP4

Hang on. I should have an answer soon. Something is missing from the
distribution and I should have it soon. I changed a number of things
around, including adding the locale stuff and created a user prefs folder
(which I am guessing is the problem).

I thought Frank Taylor's problem was getting into the download site, not
"getting into" PageStream.

This is probably because of the missing UserPrefs folder that should be in
the same folder as PageStream. In the future, all saved changes to
PageStream should go in there (styles, ini, scripts, etc).

This has nothing to do with the naming, as it does with that right now the
system does not provide any kind of weight/angle yet. I can determine that
for Type1's installed via ATM but TrueTypes are still work in progress in
this regard.

Yup, still in the Readme.Windows buglist.

Other than some not displaying all the time, they should all be there now.

This is an old Windows bug.

?? Is this two different problems?

Opps. Shouldn't be there. Part of the translation work.

Thanks for the feedback. I think next release I'll setup bugzilla for it.
The address is bugzilla.pagestream.net or bugzilla.pagestream.org, but
doesn't have the Windows version installed yet.

Yup, the program is not properly creating the UserPrefs folder. Just create
a folder called UserPrefs in the PageStream folder. That should fix the
troubles for now.

Bug/Problems I have found (that have not been mentioned)
- Adobe Type 1 fonts don't Display (TTF do)
- Fonts are poorly drawn on the screen (compared to the non Beta version)
They have an inconsistent x-height and very poor kerning.
- after selecting "Lock", "Don't Print", or "Proportional Scaling" in the
edit palette, they can't be deselected
- The Text Frame GUI for TextFX has a partially completed "Widths" input
beside the "width". This gets corrected after selecting the "Custom
Widths" check box.
- the outlines for Showing Text Columns are solid not dotted
- Drawing with the Border Tool crashes PGS
- entering numerical RGB values in the Preferences GUI has no affect, the
sliders work.
- In the Layers GUI, selecting the middle button (no icons show on last 4
buttons) crashes PGS.
