I tried the font list with font examples turned on. It got to the second font,
one created with typesmith, then locked up. It didn't display a font example,
and all the font gadgest stopped working. Hitting cancel caused the computer
to lock up with a black screen.

Hi,

I've used the print font script (excellent to be able to compare
decent hard copy examples).

The only typeface that's caused a problem has been davys dingbats.

This caused a crash (Amiga PGS 4r5) with the first two Type 1 versions
of the font I could find, a further version simply prints out blanks.
(via Ghostscript to turboprint to BJC4100)
All other typefaces print nicely.

(Very useful to have body text example on paper to compare.
Readability is often more important than legibility.)

Davy's Dingbats generates a huge download (287k) when converted to
ASCII-hex format, and may overload font storage facilities. At least
it will print now to non-PostScript printers (back in PgS2 days,
some of the dingbats could not be printed larger than 20 point).
