Hello Teo
Merci first of all for the interest which you demonstrate to help me.
I have just done again tries: I re-installed Pagestream .32 since
nothing, new one files Pagestream.ini created in the file.
C:\Users\DD\AppData\Roaming\PageStream5\Pagestream5.ini
I change nothing from there, I try to insert a drawings in the text
and, Pagestream arrète! I make other tries, but at the moment, I
always have the same problem!

In version 4.17, everything walks perfectly. If I open a file created
in version 4.17 with the last version 4.32 the inserted drawing acts
normally. I can top up areas (insert space ), go to the line etc. The
drawing follows.
I add that I use Vista Home Premium. I also tried to run Pagestream as
manager, but nothing makes there!

To print also, always the same problem, 4.17 works perfectly with my
printer HP deskjet 5600. Impossible to print with version 4.32.

André

Mmm, André, maybe, before running PGS again, you should delete
PageStream5.ini.
If you not sure about this, you could copy PageStream5.ini on another,
save, place. But then delete PageStream5.ini at
C:\Users\DD\AppData\Roaming\PageStream5\
Now run PGS again. You don't have to install PGS as new, just running it
will cause (now) a new PageStream5.ini.
Of course you have to fill in the name, registration and activation key.

Ah, I cannot help you there. I use XP and do not have Vista...

If you dare, you may send me the document privately. I will not
distribute anything you do not want!

I will see what I can do. In the end maybe Deron is interested if that
document is crashing on my machine also.

Another thing: a real steady PGS is PGS 5.0.4.4!!!!!
I do not think of this as a beta!
I am not sure of 5.0.4.4 behavior with Vista. On my XP machine it prints
perfectly to my bitmap printer (Canon Pixma 5000), connected directly to
my pc.

Hi Deron
A week ago I decided to install 'PgSPro-5.0.4.17'. Normally I make a new
Dir. for the new program, install the program, and then copy the
'UserPrefs' Dir. from the last version into the new Dir. This time it
didn't work. I had to go through the whole process of inputting the
registration information and pref's setup. You seem to have change the
pref's handling as I can't fined P--S--5.ini .

My problem is with the 'line-fill' requester. When the 'color' button is
selected there's only a choice of black or white. If I select 'custom'
it just accepts the entry with out give the option of selecting/making a
custom color. Where did the list of colors go?
The color palette also is the same.
I didn't need a special color. I just wanted to color my image so that
as I draw over it I can tell which lines are my drawing and which are
the image.

???

I can answer at least that much of your question. PageStream on Windows
now installs its "User Prefs" in "Documents and Settings | _OwnerName_ |
Application Data | PageStream5 | PageStream5.ini," which is where
Windows expects to find that stuff. That makes it portable. You
shouldn't have to do anything special when installing an update.
Everything should already be there.

However, I say, "in theory" because some comments on the latest version
seem to suggest that some content there is being overwritten or corrupted.

However, I'm told that you can copy certain content from older
installations into that directory. I haven't tried it myself because it
appears the latest release isn't as stable as I'd want it to be before
committing to it.

You are missing your PageStream5 Colors file. You can open the Define
Colors dialog, "Append" the file to your existing colors list, and then
"Save" it to make it the new default color list. Or you can simply copy
it from the installation to the proper location (the new PageStream5
preferences folder, or a folder called Defaults or some such). This
should corrected in .32

No it isn't.

Still black and white in the English version and zwart en wit in the
Dutch version (a fresh install).
My old PageStream5 kleuren is in the UserPrefs in my, steady, PGS
5.0.4.4 folder.

I just added and saved (not saved as) this (in the Dutch version), so
it is called PageStream5 kleuren (instead of PageStream5 colors), I hope.
(kleuren is Dutch for colors, as zwart and wit is Dutch for black and white)

Then I opened the English version of PGS, the new page contains black
and white aanndd.... the Dutch colors.
So I added and saved PageStream5 Colors in the English version. Yes, now
a mixed color list: English and Dutch (I didn't close PGS and restarted...).

So I looked into the user prefs in Windows ('Documents and Settings' in
XP and 'Users' in Vista, not UserPrefs from PGS!), and I see the only
color entry is: PageStream5 Colors...

I now delete PageStream5 Colors in user prefs, and restarted with the
Dutch version again, and now I do a Save as, and yess... PageStream will
try to save this as PageStream5 Colors (English!!!). So first, Deron,
PGS should take it's local name for this file (locale).
Aanndd it is trying to save it in PageStream's own Userprefs
folder...??? Strange, because my first try was in the right directory.
So I did just that. And it didn't make it in the user prefs from
Windows... It is saved in UserPrefs from PGS.

New try: now save in the user prefs from Windows as PageStream5 kleuren.
And, yes, it's in the correct folder.

I closed PGS and reopened PGS, open a new document.... Only: zwart en wit...

Iieeks!! (but a quiet one, it's still early) Smile

Now I delete the one in the user prefs in Windows, and just copy
PageStream5 kleuren from PGS 5.0.4.4 into user prefs from Windows.

I closed PGS and reopened PGS, open a new document.... Only: zwart en wit...

Now I'm tired, and the day is just started.... Smile
I stop my experiment for now...
