Have been using 5.0.4.46 pro beta for several days now and in the areas that that I use Pagestream I can find no faults. It is a little slower starting but then it appears to be loading more information. There is a problem when I shut down Pagestream 5.0.4.46 pro beta. It will not start again from the desk top short cut (or from the .exe in the Directory) from this point on neither will Pagestream 5.0.4.4 start for the same reason whatever that may be! To bring things back to normal a complete shut down and re-boot is required. I can start and shut down 5.0.4.4 pro beta as many times as required but 5.0.4.46 pro beta requires a rebooting of the system each shut down. No other programs other than Pagestreams are affected. I am using Windows XP SP3.

Wow. Release 3 versions and had almost zero reports till today. What is
it about today I wonder?

As a general report, I've got all previously reported problems fixed and
was just waiting to see if anything else might get reported.

------------------------

Sounds like PageStream is not shutting down. I know Theo reported a
problem like this if he has the Search dialog open or something else
like that. You might be able to flush PageStream using ctr-alt-del?? Let
me know if that works for you.

As you suggested I tried ctr+alt+del after shutting off Pagestream, this brought up "windows task manager" in it Pagestream was listed as still holding 15,888K of memory, it would appear that Pagestream is not clearing or shutting down. I didn't pick up that cut & paste doesn't cut & paste as I always use duplicate

Hi Deron,

Did you addressed this also:

I saw a crash opening the flyout (not repeatable), now the table tool. I
had hoped that this one was already gone.
Well, I didn't see this one for a really long time.

I have a little more info
I may have found a clue. I tried to delete the Pagestream directory, it very quickly stopped at a file "Average.eff" is being used. I did a reboot and tried again - the whole directory was deleted O K this time

This is the behavior when you stop (quit) PGS, but still having a window
open, say for instance: Define Kerning.
Ctrl-Alt-Del, tab Processes and End Process (kill) PageStream. Now PGS
can be restarted. It's a minor bug.

Which window (Define Kerning) BTW could use some overhaul. Not all is
readable beneath font and above pairs. Nor the Pair inset.
After the characters A, T and Y, I see a few \O... (this is wrong. And
further down the lots of \O...). I can resize the Define Kerning window,
but this stays the same.
The font is Arial on a XP-machine.

I have just tried direct print, and that hasn't been fixed in this version either. Colors are all wrong.

Please! Do not assign Faster Output (Beta). And try again.
Deron: make that unassigned as standard, when a Windows printer is selected!

No. I have never seen this, and have never done anything to fix it. If
you can send the crash log maybe I can figure out something to make it
stop, but right now I have no information that would be helpful.

That is interesting! Thanks for tracking it down. Now I just have to
figure out who and why that would be happening!
