If I create a blank page with two text frames, one on either half of the page, and link the frames. If both columns are the same dimension, then the lines on both halves match up perfectly for every line. But if I reduce the size of the left frame, to accommodate a separate title frame. Some lines of text line up perfectly, others are a tiny bit above, others are a tiny bit below. This is evident on consecutive lines.

For example:
Col1 = Col2
Col1 = Col2
Col1 = Col2
Col1 slightly below Col2
Col1 slightly below Col2
Col1 slightly below Col2
Col1 slightly above Col2
Col1 slightly above Col2
Col1 slightly above Col2
<Repeat>

It appears the lines are in groups of threes. Three equal, three below, three above. I don't remember having this problem years ago when I was doing program books.

Any quick fix for this issue?

At least I wasn't immediately able to reproduce the effect by trying with 2 linked columns on a A4 page. Those columns were created via Create Text frames and the "individual option" and then the left one was vertically resized:
