Well, I cannot exactly help you except to say "Hang in there".
If you look at digest 3677, you will see that I also have problems,
under Windows 10 Pro.
In my experience you may have to reboot more than once to get it to work.
But I do not actually change anything.
I can only imagine there are some sort of timing problems.

A hopeful thing is that there have been one or two people on this list
who seem to have it working perfectly well under Windows 10.
I only wish I knew what the differences are.
My copy is not located in "Program Files (x86)" where it probably should be
but I do not know whether that is actually significant.

I am still hoping that Deron will contribute to all this some day. Smile

I am running PageStream 5.0.5.8 under windows 10 on my laptop and a desktop computer. Never had any problems with either. One was upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and the other computer was upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1.

This reminds me. If you are having the problem with page stream not starting after a crash or a shut down, it is because it didn't shut down properly. Go to the task manager and shut down the page stream process and it will start back up fine.

Deron made PGS so, that it can run from any device.
Mine isn't running from the c-drive ("Program Files (x86)"). Smile

Theo - Pagestream 5.ini is the first thing I would look for if something
went wrong (otherwise the .ini file is good for what it suppose to do).
The .ini file can only be found if Windows shows hidden files
(http://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-10.html)

This concerns Win10 Pro (64 bits)

Concerning the location you put PageStream it doesn't really matter - it will run from anywhere (or close enough not to matter).

However, it might be a very good idea NOT to place any programs in Program Files and Program Files (x86) - depending on your needs and your desire to circumvent a built-in security feature in Win10 (personally, I will handle my own security in this matter, thank you :-) )

Win10 (and Win7 and 8.x) puts restraints on programs placed in these folders preventing them from writing to files in these dirs (supposedly for security reasons), thus preventing some programs from working probably (Campaign Cartographer 3 and plus is a good example of this).

I have just installed everything from scratch using Win10; for all programs where I was gicen a choice I placed all programs in a directory different from Program Files and Program Files (x86).

And it works way better than it used to. Go figure.

Actually I haven't installed PageStream yet (still having some programs I have to install).

So, I just "installed" PageStream.

I took the old PageStream folder from Win7:/C:\Program Files\ and copied it over to Win10:/C:\AnotherFolder\DTP\PageStream
Then I copied Win7:/C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\PageStream to Win10:/C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\
Just started PageStream from its new location, loaded an old document and it all seems to work as expected.

Well, I hope this will help somebody :-)

Greetings,

Philip Marquard
