I have a PPC MacBook (Aluminum) 1.5GHz G4 w/ 1GB RAM running OS X 10.4.8.

I got OS X PageStream Alpha to (sort of) work as follows:

Step 1:
Open a terminal.
$> cd /Applications/PageStream.app/Contents/MacOS
$> ./PageStream5Pro

Step 2:
Drag the intro window larger, click a few times on the window and the button
at the left and resize once or twice until the [OK] button is active and click
on it.

Step 3:
Do the same with the registration window. Click on the big button on the left,
resize a couple of times, fill in the fields at the upper right with your
registration information for the Mac OSX 5.0 version of Pagestream:

Name
Company
Registration code
Password

and click [OK] when the button becomes active.

Step 4:
The navigation window comes up. Click on [Prefs] and [Save] them. (I did this
to make sure the registration stuff got saved.)

Step 5:
Only [New] and [Prefs] do anything. [Prev], [Next], [Open], and [Quit] have no
effect. [New] opens a blank document.

Step 6:
Select Quit from the PageStreamPro menu to quit the application.

Repeat Step 1 which takes you to step 5.

This doesn't work for me. See this terminal exchange:

> T-1055:/Applications/PageStream.app/Contents/MacOS $ PageStream5Pro
> -bash: PageStream5Pro: command not found
> T-1055:/Applications/PageStream.app/Contents/MacOS $ ls
> PageStream5Pro UserPrefs libSoftLogikDisp.dylib
> libSoftLogikRSRC.dylib
> PageStream5Pro.exe libSoftLogikApp.dylib libSoftLogikOS.dylib

Bruce's technique did not work for me either.

Double-clicking on PageStream5Pro in finder gave me a "Completed
Command" terminal window:

> [Peter-Schaffs-Computer-2:~] petersch% /Applications/PageStream.app/

Doing the same with another app (Pages) gave me a similar window
without the errors, and then Pages ran. But no PageStream window
came up for me. Any clues here?

This was all on the G5. I didn't try the G4

Jim:

Your path (by default) does not include the current directory. That is why you
must use the syntax './PageStream5Pro' rather than just 'PageStream5Pro' from
the command line.

There appear to be two issues. First, you should CD to the correct
directory so that the application can be sure to find the shared
libraries (*.dlyb) in the same directory:

cd /Applications/PageStream.app/Contents/MacOS

Second, since your current directory is not (by default) in your path,
you must use the

./PageStream5Pro

syntax rather than just

PageStream5Pro

OK, thanks (boy UNIX is geeky!) ;)

The startup screens (1st 2) run now, but the 3rd screen is always
"Please run PageStream again and re-enter personal data." No
combination of any of the parameters I know about seem to get me into
the program.

Could you tell me what Deron is looking for
ill in the fields at the upper right with your
registration information for the Mac OSX 5.0 version of Pagestream:

Name I think I know what he's looking for here. 8^D
Company optional?
Registration code Registration number from my profile?
Password The website password? Activation

and click [OK] when the button becomes active.

Any help here would be appreciated, Bruce!
