On both my MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM) and my iMac (3.06 GHz, 4GB RAM), both running 10.5.7, when I attempt to import anything, I get the spinning beach ball and then a crash. Any suggestions/solutions?

Hi,

Can you tell me what you have tried importing? Have you imported
something before with this or an older version of PageStream?

I just created a new document, selected the text tool, imported a plain
text file. Then switched back to the object tool and imported a BMP and
JPG. Both imported just fine as well.

Deron:

Just tried to do that, and got the same result when I attempted to import the text file.

What version of PageStream are you using? 5.0.4.45? It will be
identified in the Navigator and the About box.

Have you important something before with this version of PageStream?

Have you imported something before with a previous version of PageStream?

When it crashes, it should provide a crash log that you can send to me.
That would at least identify part of the problem.

I am at product zero. Never done this program.
I get way intimidated by the "blank".
But thought it was a cool download.

Hi John,

Welcome aboard!

First, don't be afraid Smile

Second, you might try starting at Getting Started
(http://www.pagestream.org/showdocs.php?id=82) and then roll into the
tutorials (http://www.pagestream.org/showdocs.php?id=150). The current
interface is a little different than the online docs (still in testing)
but should be close enough. The main difference is you will want to hold
down the shift key when choose New Document to be able to see the New
Document dialog that may be mentioned in the tutorials. If you get
stuck, just ask!

Using 5.0.4.45. Where can I find the crash log?

Interestingly, I just installed it on my MacBook Air, and everything works as advertised. The only thing different on the Air is that I'm not running any virus protection. Are there any known app conflicts with Pagestream?

If I find the crash log, I'll send it to you.

Deron:

Sent you the crash log via separate email. It's not the Virus Checker. The crash occurs before the drop down file selector appears after I click on "Import" in the file menu.

Hello Ted,

The crash log simply identifies the crash as occurring when it tried to
open the file selector. Can you open document, or export text or graphics?

The question still remains if you have been able to import before,
either in this version or previous versions.

No one else has identified a similar issue, so this is not going to come
as an easy fix. I'll try pouring over the crash log to identify
conditions I might be able to check for in the code, and perhaps add
debug output in the next release.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Don't know about importing before because I just purchased Pagestream OSX several days ago.

I am unable to open a document or export, I guess because they all involve opening the file selector.

Once again, I can do this on my MacBook Air, but not on my MacBook Pro or iMac. Something on those two computers is inhibiting Pagestream from opening the file selector.
